Weekly Edit: Coastal Favs

Weekly Edit: Coastal Favs

Sharing what caught my eye this week and it spans from home to fashion as well as some Marie & Oakley jewelry & paintings.

This chandelier is stunning and was pleasantly surprised it is by a designer, Louise Gaskill, just down the road in Raleigh, North Carolina. Looking for another coastal option, this chandelier still has my heart.

Did you see that Society Social went to Round Top? I’m obsessed with their set up as well as their new collection featuring my favorite hues of blue and green. I have my eye on a couple of items for our home, such as this minty green console.

I finally spent my birthday gift cards and treated myself to a couple of things from Anthropologie. This mushroom lamp is actually a candle and I want all the colors and sizes now. Plus I picked up this cookbook.

In case you didn’t know, I have been designing jewelry for a couple of decades now. Yes, I know! I’m old. But I am so grateful that my hands and eyes are still allowing me to create things I love. Go check out these lovely aquamarine lovelies!

This Oysters on the Half Shell is one of my first paintings and is one of my best selling prints. I am so humbled that some of you would want to hang one of my paintings in your home.I am a self taught artist and definitely have much to learn but am diving into painting by keeping a daily art journal.

Swooning over these rattan and wicker pieces from Society Social and again have my eye on a couple of pieces. Plus, I love they are just down the road in Hickory, North Carolina. I am on a mission to support local or small businesses, especially if they are in North Carolina.

Aren’t these whimsical ocean-inspired plates the cutest? Tablescaping is one of my favorite things to do but I don’t necessarily have the room or the funds to purchase all the dinnerware collections I love. So my trick is to purchase salad plates or bowls that will intermingle with my cream or white dinnerware collections. It’s a great trick and allows me to mix and match, as needed.

I have shared this little fish rug before but had to share again. I am eyeing this rug for our dining room and may make the commitment soon. Stay tuned!

Friday Favs: Summer Mood

Friday Favs: Summer Mood

Summer is on my mind and I am dreaming of sunny skies and turquoise oceans. I definitely need some time in my happy place! In the meantime, I am sharing what caught my eye this week. Big news this week, I am feeling brave and adding my original artwork for sale. A couple of weeks ago, I took a leap of faith and featured my artwork alongside my jewelry. And much to my surprise I sold my paintings than jewelry.

Friday Favs: Retro Surf Vibes

I stumbled (or scrolled) upon a new-to-me brand that I absolutely fell in love with. Meet Begg x Co that creates the most luxurious cashmere on the Scottish coastline. I am obsessed with the retro cashmere polo with the surfer strips & hibiscus. There’s a retro and yet modernity to the styles showcased below. And how about the “Happy Place” surfboard by Kerri Rosenthal.

I know it’s almost summer here in North Carolina but could not pass up the opportunity to share these beautiful cashmere sweaters with you.

  1. Who can resist this Surfer Cardigan by Begg x Co?

  2. The ocean is definitely my Happy Place. So this Happy Place Surfboard is so a propos.

  3. I’m still on the hunt for the perfect summer bag and this Tory Burch Mini Ella Bio Tote in Skylight Blue might just be the one.

  4. This Watercolor Shell Gift Set in an abalone shell is adorable. What a great gift for a coastal-loving artist!

  5. Summer Isles Cardigan by Begg x Co with the blue and turquoise hibiscus flowers is definitely on my wish list.

  6. I have been crushing on the Office Of Angela Scott for a while now. Seems like the perfect time to introduce you! Shown is the Remi Sneaker but this pair, the Elliot Sneaker in clover, would be so cute, too.

  7. This men’s Rip Tide Polo is my all-time favorite and reminds of my teenage years of sitting on the sand watching the surfers catch a wave. Always the spectator watching from afar.

  8. Some of my paintings that I am considering brining to a life as a collection.

  9. I love the blues & greens in these Marie & Oakley Necklaces and believe they would be the perfect complement for these beautiful Begg x Co sweaters.

Friday Favs: Hello March

The weather has been all over the place this past week but next week should be a nice debut for Spring. Can’t wait! Until then, I am sharing what caught my eye this past week. I extended my no-spend January into February as we navigate some changes in our household but that does not keep me from window shopping. A little warning, I have very expensive taste and I found some beautiful things but they are a little pricey. I do have some ideas for decor and art that might not cost a fortune. Have fun browsing and let me know what you think in the commets.

Friday Favs: Hello March

  1. These hand painted plates keep popping up in my Instagram feed. I love the green and cream but they do come in other colors. A little on the pricey side, but I think definitely worth the investment.

  2. Looking for an inexpensive way to bring Spring indoors. Place your favorite bulbs in an old wooden crate. I purchased these at my favorite Farmer’s Market in Hillsborough, NC. But now I can update for each season!

  3. The English Roll Arm Sofa is my all-time favorite! My first sofa ever was this style and I still have it. My oldest niece has dibs on it! This one from One Kings Lane comes in beautiful velvets and I have my eye on a color. It’s Seafoam, of course.

  4. This is a photo I took last Spring on a visit to one of my favorite garden stores. DIY tip, take photos of things you love and then hang as art. Not completely free, but not as expensive as an original painting.

  5. I call this necklace, Green Seas, and it is now available at Marie & Oakley. Handmade one-of-a-kind necklace featuring a chrysoprase pendant, moonstone and peridot wrapped in 14K gold plated wire.

  6. Fell in love with a new tile company and discovered these tiles but unfortunately they are now of stock. Why does that always happen to me?

  7. How beautiful are these candlesticks? 1970s Vintage Ceramic Parrot Candleholders With Bronze Ormolu Details for the pair. A bargain, right?

  8. How adorable is this bench by MadCap Cottage? I love that they are based in High Point, North Carolina. If you aren’t all ready following this duo on Instagram, you are missing out!

  9. Have I mentioned how much I adore deVol Kitchens and everything they do. All of the heirloom platters are so beautiful and I have been eyeing a couple of pieces. Especially this Sea Green platter!

  10. This necklace is one of my all-time M&O Favs and you can find it here! There’s more to see at Marie & Oakley.

Like what you see here? Don’t forget to check out last week’s blog post where I shared some of my favorite picks for summer.

Friday Favs: Too Soon for Summer?

I know, I know! It’s too soon for summer but I could not resist sharing what caught my eye this week. Apparently I am dreaming of my favorite place, the sea, and entertaining in coastal style.

  1. Lucie de Moyencourt Platter would be ideal for a summer evening entertaining by coast.

  2. Small Lion's Paw Vide Poche Shell and Large Lion's Paw Vide Poche Shell are works of art and would be a great catchall.

  3. Excited to see Pottery Barn now has this White Assorted Shell Garland. My husband gifted me the original and were surprised to see how orange it was. We may need to give this another try!

  4. Figural Shell Champagne Bucket makes me want to host a champagne or prosecco tasting

  5. This Wallpaper was so loved, it’s no longer available. Oops!

  6. Love the Floral Stoneware from ZaraHome and reminds me of enjoying an intimate dinner in a secluded beach cottage

  7. I fell in love Costa Nova dinnerware several years ago and I have been building my collection slowly. These Brisa Oval Dinner Plates are my favorite as they remind me of the ocean. Plus, they are definitely a conversation starter!

  8. Haddan Slipcover Dining Bench from Lulu and Georgia is striking and would look perfect in our breakfast nook.

  9. This Segundo Mother Of Pearl Chandelier is stunning! Don’t be surprised if you see this hanging in our dining room sometime soon.

  10. Inira Handwoven Wool Rug from Pottery Barn is a great addition to any coastal inspired room.

  11. Can I make a confession? I don’t love our builder-grade kitchen pendants and I have been eyeing these Nanina Pendant as a replacement.

  1. Marie & Oakley styling. Did you know I dabble in interior styling? Feel free to drop a comment or email at hello@marieandoakley.com for details.

  2. Such a cute Rattan Pineapple Crossbody Bag and would be so perfect for a summer date.

  3. Loved this Clamshell so much, I featured it twice!

  4. I have been following Saltwater Collection on Instagram for a while now and when she launched her Saltwater Collection coffee table book, I knew I had to have it. It reminds me of my childhood summer vacation in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. My husband not only surprised with the book but also a chance to meet the photographer, Faith Teasley, at a book signing in Raleigh.

  5. Masuma Accent Chair at Lulu and Georgia caught my eye several weeks ago. I have no idea how comfortable it would be but it looks super cool.

  6. A Seashell Desk Lamp? How cute would this be in my home office?

  7. How lovely is this Onyx Marble and Brass Coffee Table? And the Wicker Shelf is so unexpected. This would look perfect in our living room but I would have to convince my husband we need to make this ours.

  8. This Marie and Oakley necklace sold out but I have plans to bring it back. In the meantime, check out the new Spring Collection now.

  9. How is it I make jewelry and don’t have these Glass Beads in my home?

  10. I adore the softness and colors of this Finn Hand-Knotted Wool Rug from Pottery Barn. It mirrors my daily uniform of a well-loved pair of jeans and ivory colored sweater. Plus, it is currently on sale!

  11. This Shell Clutch from Anthropologie would be so cute for a beach wedding celebration.
