The Year of the Fire Horse

The Year of the Fire Horse

There are certain energies you grow into—and others you find your way back to.

The Year of the Fire Horse is one I was born into, and one I’ve been reflecting on more deeply this year.

For me, Fire Horse energy isn’t loud. It’s intuitive. It’s movement without force. A quiet pull toward open space, natural texture, and pieces that feel collected rather than styled.

When I think about interiors through this lens, I’m drawn to contrast—coastal softness paired with a western edge. Calm, but never flat. Relaxed, but full of intention.

This mood board came together slowly, guided by feeling more than rules. Sun-faded colors, playful forms, and moments that invite you to pause.

It reflects how I want spaces—and the pieces we live with—to feel: lived-in, expressive, and quietly strong.

At Marie & Oakley, design has always started with story. This one just happens to be deeply personal.

You’ll start to see this feeling woven into some of my newest pieces.

The Colors That Inspire My Work

That same spirit—coastal with a hint of the wild—has found its way into much of what I create.

Turquoise that mirrors bright coastal waters.
Aquamarine, like calm mornings by the sea.
Soft sea glass greens.
Warm golden light that feels like long afternoons along the shore.

These colors live not only in my jewelry, but also in the watercolor paintings I’ve been creating lately—each piece shaped by the same sense of place and feeling.

If you’re drawn to these tones, you’ll find them throughout my collections:

  • Turquoise pieces inspired by the brightest days on the water
  • Aquamarine designs that feel calm, effortless, and wearable every day
  • Soft, layered palettes that echo sea glass, sand, and light

If you’re curious about the palette behind it all, I shared more here:
The Colors of the Coast: Jewelry and Watercolor Art Inspired by the Sea.

It’s a closer look at how the ocean continues to shape everything I make—from the smallest gemstone to the brushstrokes on paper.

Or simply stay here a little longer—this space was meant to be wandered.

Much love from the coast,

Tracy Marie
